"New Year in War"/ Zelensky: Russia is preparing to launch a new offensive

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, ahead of tomorrow's crucial European Union summit to discuss frozen Russian assets, today called on allies to continue supporting Kiev and show Russia that continuing the war is pointless, foreign media write.

"The outcome of these meetings, the result for Europe, should be such that Russia feels that its desire to continue the war in the new year will be meaningless, because Ukraine will have support,"  Zelensky said in his evening speech.

The Ukrainian president, referring to statements made earlier today by Russian President Vladimir Putin that Moscow's goals in the country will undoubtedly be achieved, said that Russia is preparing to wage a new year of war in Ukraine in 2026.

"Today, we heard a new message from Moscow that they are preparing next year for another year of war," the Ukrainian president said.
