British student murder: Starmer's government accuses JD Vance of fomenting division

The British government has accused US Vice President JD Vance of fomenting division in Britain. The accusation came after a comment Vance made about the murder of British student Henry Nowak.
The US vice president blamed the death of the 18-year-old British student, who was stabbed last year by Vickrum Digwa, on the "massive immigrant invasion" and said the only response was "righteous anger".
Following this comment, a Downing Street spokesman said that he attempted to interfere in British democracy and incite division.
"Our politics should bring people together even in the most dire circumstances. That's who we are as a country ," he said.
Violent protests took place in Southampton on Tuesday after the release of body camera footage showing police handcuffing Nowak as he lay dying, after Vickrum Digwa falsely claimed he was the victim of a racist attack.
In his post, Vance said Nowak had died "the same way a civilization dies: abandoned and shackled by authorities who neither trusted nor cared for him."
