Investigative journalist Elton Qyno has denounced a physical attack and continuous threats, which according to him are linked to the Çapjave criminal group in Elbasan, one of the groups most targeted by SPAK.
Qyno was attacked the day before near American Hospital 3 by the wife of Florenc Çapja, sentenced to life imprisonment.
She is suspected of first hitting the journalist with her phone and then with her bag and other items.
After the incident, Qyno filed a criminal report with the police. After reviewing security camera footage, the police have announced a search for the suspected perpetrator of the attack.
The journalist stated that before the attack he had repeatedly received threatening messages from people associated with the Çapja group.
In the past, Qyno has published investigative materials on the activities of criminal groups in Elbasan, including the Çapjat. He has also been involved in legal proceedings with SPAK, after the prosecution investigated him in a file related to Suel Çela's group.
According to the decisions of the Court of Appeal of the Kosovo Criminal Court and the Supreme Court, the allegations against him for involvement in criminal activity or deleting news in exchange for payment were not proven and he had not committed a criminal offense.
In another case, the Constitutional Court overturned the decisions to seize the journalist's phones and personal belongings, following his publications on communications on the Sky ECC application between suspected underworld figures./ prapaskena.al
