WhatsApp brings the new update! Communication without phone numbers for billions of users

WhatsApp is preparing one of the biggest changes in recent years, giving users the opportunity to communicate without having to reveal their phone number.
The new feature aims to increase the level of privacy for more than 3 billion users worldwide.
According to the company, the feature will be gradually introduced over the coming months and will allow users to create a unique username within the app.
This name will be used to start conversations and identify contacts, replacing the phone number in the first communication.
WhatsApp explains that the use of usernames will be optional, leaving users free to continue with their phone numbers as before. Usernames can be changed or removed at any time, and their length will be limited to 35 characters.
However, a phone number will remain necessary for account creation and operation. Once the feature is enabled, users will be notified and will have the option to reserve their username directly from their profile settings in the app.
Initially, this innovation will not be available on the web or desktop version, but only on the mobile application.
