Former Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku and other defendants in the Llogara tunnel case and Lot 4 of the Tirana Ring Road have been summoned by the Special Prosecution Office to appear. This began this Wednesday with the former director of ARRSH-Gentian Gjyli.
The latter was accompanied by his lawyer Andi Skënderaj and a police officer as he is under house arrest. The defendants have been asked to appear with a lawyer, but it is not yet known whether they will be notified of the 3-month postponement of the investigation for the offense of violating equality in tenders, or for any other procedural action.
The fact that Evis Berberi, the arrested former director of the ARA, was also summoned as part of these actions does not exclude the possibility that SPAK has registered another criminal proceeding, or that another charge has been communicated to the officials.
The investigative body is too reserved to give a position on this procedural moment. We recall that after the rejection by the assembly, with the votes of the left, of SPAK's request to remove Belinda Balluku's mandate, the investigative body announced additional actions, saying that it is also investigating her for corruption and laundering. As part of this criminal proceeding, SPAK also seized a villa in Dhërmi, in the name of former footballer Igli Tare, but which the prosecution says is suspected of being Balluku's hidden property.
