"We will change the law"/ Youth in the square demand his resignation,

Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted to the boycott of university teaching, calling it unacceptable and warning of interference in the relevant law. In a statement, Rama opposed the boycott by students and some professors, arguing that freedom of protest is different from imposing on those who want to teach.

The head of government stated that he does not recognize the language of force and imposition, while calling on students and professors to sit down in dialogue with the government. He also brought to attention the student protests of 2018, claiming that even then it took several weeks to reach a dialogue.

Rama also criticized protesters who oppose dialogue, saying that he has not heard any vision or ideas in their speeches. He stated that he is ready to hold talks anytime and anywhere, to discuss proposals that students and professors think could improve the situation.

" The boycott of students and even more so by some of the lecturers, politicized individuals, who have a voice for the first time, is unacceptable. We will intervene in the relevant law, because one thing is freedom of protest and another thing is imposition on those who want to teach."

I want to share some truths with Albanians. I know the difficulties many of you face due to the cost of living. I don't want to make comparisons, but I want to be honest with you. I don't know the language of force, of imposition. I don't negotiate European civilization, the tradition of the next Albanian in speech, with anyone.

When I was a young teacher, I rebelled against a regime because I wanted free dialogue and not blind violence. In the wake of that rebellion, students sat down for dialogue. They sat down for dialogue with the communist president, and from there democracy came to life. I even wrote letters for dialogue to the prime minister at the time.

Even in 2018, it took several weeks to sit down for dialogue, because it was the fault of those pedagogues or some neo-communist blind men. 'Do as we say, or we will break the world', there is no such thing. Come and sit down, when you want and where you want, for what you think I will do better. Stop eating that sick theory that those misunderstood people who took the stones repeat. I listened to them more than anyone else, because I had them right there in front of me. I was in the office working. Their motto was: 'There is no dialogue'. I even memorized their speeches. I did not hear any vision or ideas in those speeches," Rama said.
