The past doesn't leave him alone, after the magic against Galatasaray, comes the unexpected punishment for Salah

Mohamed Salah scored his first hat-trick of the season in Trabzonspor's 4-0 win over Galatasaray in the Turkish Super League.

Galatasaray had started the season undefeated, but were completely dominated as Salah put in a stunning individual performance, scoring three goals and assisting another.

It has been a mixed start to the season for Trabzonspor, who come into this match with two wins, a draw and two losses in the first five matches of the season. But as he did at Liverpool, the Egyptian King continues to be the go-to man for goals, and his hat-trick against Galatasaray takes him to seven goals in six league appearances for his new club.

It seems Salah is continuing in Turkey where he left off in England, finding the net with the kind of regularity that Liverpool fans have become accustomed to during his nine years at Anfield.

While things seem to be going perfectly on the pitch, Salah has received some bad news outside of football, which is related to his time in England. The Sun reports that Mohamed Salah has been banned from driving for six months after a Rolls-Royce registered in his name was caught speeding in Wilmslow, Cheshire.

Court documents show the vehicle was recorded travelling at 36 miles per hour (about 58 km/h) in a 30 mph (about 48 km/h) zone on March 27, with Salah subsequently refusing to give police the identity of the person driving the vehicle. The timing of the incident is particularly significant, as it came just three days after Liverpool announced that Salah would leave the club at the end of the 2025/26 season.

According to court documents, the Egyptian representative did not respond to a prosecution notice filed by Cheshire Police and did not make any statement of defence. Salah was subsequently prosecuted at Warrington Crown Court and found guilty of failing to provide information relating to the identification of the driver.

The 34-year-old was banned from driving for six months and ordered to pay a fine of £1,044. The penalty relates to Salah failing to identify the driver rather than the speeding offence itself, as court documents do not prove the former Liverpool striker was behind the wheel at the time. For Salah, the focus will now turn back to matters on the pitch after a memorable weekend for his new club. Mohamed Salah will return to action on Friday when Egypt face Angola in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
