Berisha's MPs travel the world, citizens in the square for their seats

Four months before the elections, Sali Berisha's party has chosen the path of protest, a movement that, beyond the noise, seems completely meaningless politically. At a time when citizens are expecting solutions, alternatives and concrete proposals for their lives, Berisha and his supporters choose the rhetoric of polarization, which keeps the situation stagnant and far from solutions.

It seems that Berisha and his group have given up on revolution, civil disobedience, and the technical government, so under these conditions the goal of the protest is rather dubious and not at all clear to the right-wing electorate.

Without a clear strategy and without a concrete plan to convince citizens, this mobilization seems more like an attempt to keep a small handful of militants around, than a real challenge to the government.

The great paradox of this protest is that while the PD militants are called to protest, some of Berisha's deputies are traveling abroad, doing political tourism. Many of them have not been seriously engaged in their electoral areas since the 2021 elections and do not have the slightest concern for the problems of citizens. For them, the most important thing is to take some photos and videos to catch Berisha's eye and show that they are "working" for the party, while in reality they are more focused on their personal chair.

While citizens suffer daily in the face of economic crises and rising prices, many of these MPs have never gone to thank their voters for their support in the last elections. They are remembered by citizens only when it comes to protests or elections, appearing to be “engaged” in politics, while in reality they are disconnected from the reality of ordinary Albanians.

In this double game, where one hand protests and the other makes tourism, the real losers remain the citizens, who are still waiting for a worthy opposition that can offer them something more than chaos and empty promises./Alfapress.al
