Unstoppable revolution, blockage of roads, ports, airports, blockage of the parliament - this was what Sali Berisha promised the Albanians. But the first attempt on October 7 failed. The Albanians abandoned him, and like a deranged crowd, the leaders remained on the streets with phones in hand, making the biggest own goal: the violation of the headquarters of the opposing party.
After that, the opposition was forgotten. The battle seems more between each other, who is more of a leader and who will win the sympathy of the "Sultan" who sees them from above, than a battle against Edi Rama.
From the international media, they received another blow. In Europe, there is no political party that leads burning and destruction, even more so when their president is accused of corruption and non grata by the USA and Great Britain, for high corruption and undermining democracy.
To cover up this failure, they made their way to Strasbourg to meet 4 of the 720 members of the European Parliament. They went to complain to the Justice Department, which indicted Berisha for corruption and arrested Meta for money laundering and non-declaration of assets. For this justice that they, with a special resolution, have appreciated precisely for the beating of officials and former high officials
On the same day that these deputies, who until yesterday went to the same deputies to insult Berisha as corrupt and non grata, Ursula von der Leyen, (who is part of the EPP), alongside Edi Rama praised Justice and defended SPAK. On the same day, the USA reacted to Meta, where it appreciated and supported the work of SPAK.
But this visit brings to our attention what happened a few months ago with the opposition in Serbia.
The December 17 election last year was widely criticized as neither free nor fair. The European Parliament adopted a resolution on February 8 this year, condemning the irregularities that were reported during the recent elections in Serbia and called for an international investigation. The resolution received strong support: 461 deputies out of 557 present voted in favor of it; only 53 were against, while 43 abstained.
Nothing has happened until today. The Government of Serbia continues to govern, Vucic has become an even more important factor and ally of Germany, France and is increasing American investments in the country. In fact, he has paved the way for an even closer partnership with the USA, in case Trump is elected president, where, like Rama, he has established business relations with his family members.
When you see the smiles in the photos, a skit from before 2010 comes to mind, which referred to the reception given to citizens at embassies - they receive you very well, with a smile, but they don't give you a visa.
And these MPs, at the end of their term, today they don't even have a cause outside, since Berisha has his doors closed as corrupt and undermining democracy, and nobody votes for him inside because they have shown a lack of dignity and credibility.
Nationalists and internationals know that Berisha will never win elections in Albania. But unlike the nationals who know that he is losing, Berisha does not leave, the internationals still have hope, which was fed to some of those who posed smiling today, that after losing the elections, Berisha will leave politics.
Rama's taxi is to stay for another 4 years, but the bad luck of the Albanians is: Either fight on their own, or pack your bags and flee to the EU.
Pensioners today started the response to their plight and this is good news.
