The knife that Berisha stuck to Trump with "Ramaduron"

With his vote, Sali Berisha stabbed Donald Trump in the back.

With that vote, he paved the way for Edi Rama to sit at Trump's table in the White House.

Edi Rama, at the beginning of Trump's first term, openly called him a threat to America and to Albanian-American relations.

"Donald Trump is a threat to America and, undoubtedly, to Albanian-American relations," Rama declared.

And yet Berisha, who often uses it as an argument, decided to take it to Trump's office.

Edi Rama leads the most corrupt government Albania has ever had. A government that, according to Sali Berisha's own accusations, has ties to drug trafficking gangs from Latin America – precisely the same structures against which Trump has declared open war.

Rama has introduced criminals into the government, parliament and administration; over 600 people have been prosecuted and removed from the system through the decriminalization law, approved by Lulzim Basha's DP.

Albania, which was supposed to be an example of the fight against crime, turned into a money laundering machine during the Rama government.

A prime minister who associates politically with individuals sanctioned by the US, like the Hysi brothers, according to Sali Berisha himself

And it is precisely this man, with his vote, that Berisha takes to the White House.

The "we did it for America" excuse doesn't hold up. Trump would be more grateful to Berisha for not putting a prime minister accused of being a "drug lord" into office than for doing the opposite.

The board's statute clearly states: Prime Minister or president, so participation is institutional, not personal. Rama is going as the Prime Minister of Albania, not as a private individual. If it were a personal invitation, there would be no obligation for ratification in Parliament – just like private invitations to weddings or events.

The example of Giorgia Meloni is clear: a personal friend of Trump, but she refused to participate in the board because the Italian Constitution did not allow it. And Trump understood it well.

While Berisha, even in violation of the law, ratified an unsigned "agreement" - therefore, legally it does not exist.

He ratified a personalized act, jeopardizing Albania's contribution in the future, if - as he claims - he overthrows Rama.

The truth is simpler and more difficult:

Berisha is Rama's hostage. That's why he voted.

He had plenty of arguments, but he didn't use them, because the bargain with Rama is more important.

He is afraid that the seal will be lost – as it will be, if not today, tomorrow – because Rama gave it to him in violation of every law and democratic practice.

He fears that Rama may expose the tower deals that have enriched his family.

He hopes that a rapprochement between Rama and Trump will lead to the reining in of SPAK, due to the serious files that both of them have in process.

For this reason, Sali Berisha committed one of the greatest political betrayals: Betrayal of Albanians and betrayal of President Trump, by bringing "Ramadura" to the table./ Alfapress.al
