The Transparency Board makes the decision, here are the new prices for oil and gasoline

The Transparency Board met today, where it set new retail and wholesale price limits for petroleum by-products in the country.
According to the decision, the maximum price of SSH EN 590 standard diesel is set at no more than 185 lek per liter in retail sales, while in wholesale no more than 173 lek per liter.
Meanwhile, SSH EN standard gasoline is set at a ceiling of 173 lek per liter in retail and 161 lek per liter in wholesale.
The new prices came into effect at 13:00 on the same day and will remain in force until the next Board meeting, where possible changes are expected depending on the market. The authorities have warned all fuel market operators to strictly implement the decision, stressing that any violation will be accompanied by punitive measures, including suspension of activity.
The Transparency Board on May 29, 2026, at its next meeting decided:
The retail price of the SSH EN 590 standard diesel by-product shall not exceed 185 lek/liter, while the wholesale price shall not exceed 173 lek/liter.
The retail price of the SSH EN standard gasoline by-product shall not exceed 173 lek/liter, while the wholesale price shall not exceed 161 lek/liter.
The prices set by the Board will enter into force today, the 29th at 13:00 and will be valid until the next meeting of the Board where the changes in sales prices will be reflected.
We draw the attention of every wholesale and retail operator of petroleum by-products to the obligation to implement this decision.
????In case of violations found by various operators, the suspension of activity will be decided.

EXPLANATION: Referring to Normative Act no. 1, Date 3.4.2026 “On an addition to Law No. 61/2012, “On Excise Duties in the Republic of Albania,” as amended, which provides that if the retail price for diesel is higher than 220 lek/liter, or for gasoline is higher than 200 lek/liter, the 80% excise duty rate shall be applied. Based on the implementation of the methodology for calculating the retail price ceiling, the prices are below the limit of Normative Act No. 1, date 3.4.2026, and consequently the excise duty rate shall be applied in full, 100%.
Diesel for fishing – the selling price of diesel for fishing, referred to Law 9975, date 28.07.2008 “On National Taxes”, in Article 9 “Exemptions from the payment of national taxes”, point 6 It is provided: …“Fishing vessels are exempt from paying the turnover tax and carbon tax. Also, referring to Article 10, point 3 letter “d” of Law 61/2012 “On excise duties in the Republic of Albania”, it is provided that fuel for fishing vessels is exempt from excise duties, in the quantities, conditions and criteria specified in the Council of Ministers. Referring to the methodology specified in the normative act, the selling price of diesel for fishing results in 90 lek.
