Construction and tourism lead the economy / Instat: Report growth in sales,

The Albanian economy continues to be led by the real estate and tourism sectors. Instat data confirms that these sectors closed last year with record sales profits, salary increases for employees and the number of employees.

This confirms the fact that these two sectors remain two of the most important pillars in the Albanian economy.

According to Instat, the net sales index in volume in the fourth quarter of 2025, compared to the fourth quarter of 2024, is led by real estate activity, which marked an increase of 36.4%, followed by Hotels and Bar-Restaurant activity, with 12% and 7% respectively.

Tourism appears to remain the main engine of employment in the country, surpassing all other sectors.

The employment index in the fourth quarter of 2025, compared to the fourth quarter of 2024, was led by wholesale and retail trade, followed by hotels, bars and restaurants.

In the Real Estate activity, the wage index increased by 30%, also related to the performance of the activity in the last months of last year.

Due to the increased demand for professionals in the service sector, there has been an increase in salaries of over 22%. Currently, in this sector, the needs for employees are being met with foreign staff.

The industrial sector, meanwhile, continued to suffer decline in the fourth quarter of 2025, as a result of increasing costs that are making the country uncompetitive and the not very favorable international conjuncture.

The data shows that the structure of the services sector in Albania is becoming increasingly dependent on tourism and real estate, while sectors such as information and communication are not following the same pace.
