Rents in Tirana are becoming unaffordable

Housing in Tirana is becoming a challenge for thousands of citizens. Apartment prices have increased rapidly, as have monthly rents for young people or families moving to the capital.
The Institute of Statistics' data on inflation show that in January, rents had the highest inflation indicator, with an increase of 8.5% across the country, while market prices in urban areas of Tirana have experienced an increase ranging from 20% to 40%.
Depending on the area and size of the apartment, in the central part the price ranges from 500 to 1800 euros per month, while in more remote areas, apartments are rented for 300 to 850 euros.
Experts say that the price increase will continue if demand is high, with low-income families being forced to look in suburban areas, while the central part will operate on a daily rental basis for foreign tourists.
Meanwhile, high housing prices in relation to living costs are not only reported in Tirana, but also in Lisbon, Berlin, Madrid, Dublin, Amsterdam and Prague.
