IGEO: There will be intense rainfall, orange alert in 5 counties

The intensity of precipitation in the coming hours will increase, especially on Friday. The precipitation will be focused mainly in the north and south of the country.
The Institute of Geosciences has raised the orange alert for five regions, Shkodër, Lezhë, Kukës, Vlorë and Gjirokastër.
In these regions, it is predicted that in the next 24 hours, due to storms and high rainfall intensity, which is expected to reach up to 90 mm of rain, various problems may arise, such as landslides and flooding in localized urban areas, depending on the sewage system of these regions.
Other counties will also have rainfall, but it will be at an average level.
The situation is expected to be more problematic in the Shkodra region, where according to IGJEO forecasts, intense rainfall in the Drin and Buna river basins is expected to lead to increased flows and the risk of flooding in the Nënshkodra area.
An increase in flows is also expected in the Mat, Ishëm, Erzen, Shkumbin, Seman and Vjosa rivers, which could cause local flooding problems.
In the North, East and Southeast of the country, at altitudes above 1000 m above sea level, precipitation is expected to be in the form of snow.
Meanwhile, temperatures will experience a slight increase, marking minimum values of 2 degrees and maximum values of 15 degrees Celsius.
