Rama raises the issue of the KLA at the Peace Board: Mr. President, let's do something before bad things happen!

The Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, delivered a powerful speech during the inaugural meeting of the Peace Board, highlighting recent events related to international justice and the situation of former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), including former Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi.
In his speech, Rama emphasized that during President Trump’s first term, Kosovo and Serbia were closer than ever to a peace agreement, adding that a key moment was the blocking of Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi’s trip to the White House to sign the agreement with Trump. “Under the leadership of President Trump’s first term, Kosovo and Serbia were closer than ever to a peace agreement,” Rama declared.
He accused international justice and prosecutors who, he said, are funded by democratic countries, noting that a taxpayer-funded prosecutor had requested a 45-year prison sentence for Hashim Thaçi, a request that caused international outrage. “A man who stood up against ethnic cleansing in a court that has failed to respect the standards of democratic justice,” he said.
Rama called this process an example of abuse of international justice, noting that many of the democratic countries present at this meeting have been involved in financing the investigations and trial against Thaçi.
In conclusion, Prime Minister Rama appealed for further commitment to protect the rights and entitlements of Kosovo and the entire region, calling on everyone to act before “bad things happen.” “Mr. President, let’s do something before bad things happen,” he added. Rama expressed gratitude for Albania’s involvement in this initiative, hoping that Albania will be an added value in the vision of international Peace promoted by the Peace Board.
