Cucumber prices rise, production in Lushnja greenhouses halved

Despite the fact that cucumbers are being sold at a higher price this year, farmers in the Darsia area of Lushnja say that there is high demand in the market.

One kilogram of cucumber is being sold from greenhouses for 100-120 lek per kilogram, and this price seems to be profitable for farmers. Farmers say that the increase in the price of this product has been dictated by the decrease in production.

Meanwhile, tomato greenhouses in the area are not yet ready for the market due to problems with pesticide treatment. They also say that the amount of cucumbers they expected to receive has been halved.

They blame chemicals and plant nutrients, which they say are of poor quality, which affects the plant's development.

The hilly area of Lushnja is the first to start selling solar greenhouse products.

This year there is more surface area planted with cucumbers and less with tomatoes. This ratio has led to cucumbers being the only domestic product in our markets. /Top Channel
