Tourism in Albania, Elona Kola: Worrying prices everywhere

"Did we fail with tourism this year?" is the topic being discussed on the "Opinion" show, conducting an analysis with guests on everything from the number of tourists who came to our country during the summer season, to prices and the quality of service.

Elona Kola, author of "When in Albania," spoke in the studio about this topic. She shared her experience from the field, stating that prices were a major concern, thus influencing the decrease in visitors during July and August.

"The price part has been discussed and has been a concern everywhere. I have seen a couple of special editions that you have done, and I myself noticed that the beach in July and August had fewer tourists than last year. And in bars and restaurants it was noticeable, from the point of view that prices increased. This worries citizens from all aspects,"  she said.

For foreign tourists, he made a division, those who visited our country due to the advertising of low prices, and secondly those who were curious about Albania.

"Foreigners, we can't put them all in one bag. Foreigners, at least the ones I've met, are foreign tourists who have a great curiosity, who want to see Albania. From the questions I asked in the street interviews, I set myself a goal. Why Albania and why now? Why are you coming now? They said it was cheap, not very expensive. These tourists had certain goals, and this was the first. Curiosity was the second. Hospitality, history, culture, the other category. The part of culture, they valued Theth, Berat, Gjirokastra the most. It's not that they don't like the beach, but it depends on which part of the world they come from. The other category is those who have come to live in Albania. These, especially Americans who have decided to live in Albania for a year, and others who want to stay for three months, digital nomads, these have an extraordinary growth. These do not come as tourists, but use the facilities, hotels, Air "BnB, before they buy a house and do unprecedented tourism ," said Kola.
