Yesterday, after a silence of more than two months, there were two pieces of news that resonated in Albania from the State Department.
One, the one about the appointment of former ambassador Juri Kim to a new position, has no relevance to developments in our country. But it only receives attention in the context of the constant "news" from the Berisha front as if she had been ceremonially removed and is being investigated. Berisha's emissaries had made her dismissal so certain that two or three of them addressed me on television, as if I had appointed her ambassador to Tirana: "Where is Kim, did you find out that she is going for a walk?" It is understandable that they addressed me that way, because I supported the positions of the US diplomatic representatives in Tirana as the positions of the White House and the State Department, and not because I benefited from them in any way for myself.
The other, very important news is that of the assessment of SPAK in the 2024 report. Very important, first of all in the context of a relative silence from the new administration of President Trump. Completely explainable in the context of its start with major priorities, but which had opened many mouths in Tirana, as if the US would pull the plug on SPAK. Consequently, the two main actors of the plural solidarity caste would have a free hand to castrate it (Rama) and to dissolve it (Berisha)!
The immediate aim of these pledges was to invalidate the completed investigations, to discourage investigations in progress and in the future, by making irrelevant analogies to Trump's problems with American justice.
Anyone with a normal dose of professionalism has warned early on that at the right time, within March-April, there would be a first supportive-encouraging statement from the new American Administration for SPAK. And here we are.
In the report published yesterday, of the many high-ranking individuals investigated in Albania today, only Sali Berisha is mentioned by name, referring to the legal and administrative acts on which his sanctioning was based.
The report was published following the completion of new leadership in the Office for Europe and Eurasia, which also covers the Balkans and Albania.
Most importantly, the Report not only evaluates the work of SPAK, but also underlines with critical-encouraging notes that “however, criminal prosecutions remain at low levels”. The honest and courageous prosecutors of SPAK, like the judges of the GJKKO, have reason to feel more encouraged in their work. The general public has reason to maintain high trust and support for the new justice system.
What was expected happened. The complete opposite of the "news" of Berisha's cassandras who made the lifting of his sanctions a fait accompli and communicated to others as if it had happened. When in fact it had not happened and has not happened.
“Misionarët e rosës”, i quante dikur Spartak Ngjela tipat që i sillnin Berishës lajme të zmadhuara apo të rreme, që e dinin se mezi i priste, me qëllim që të merrnin prej tij vëmendje, vlërësim, kandidim, emërim e tjerë. “Sill rosën, merr shpërblimin”, qeshte Ngjela.
Kjo histori ka vazhduar e vazhdon. Berisha me të tijtë e kanë bërë hit refrenin “koha na dha të drejtë”. Makare, thonë në Shkodër. Shumë demokratë dhe opozitarë jo berishistë do ta dëshironin këtë. Në radhë të parë për një interes konkret, që është rrotacioni i pushtetit pas dymbëdhjetë vjetësh.
Por gjërat duhen thënë siç janë. Deri tani koha nuk u ka dhënë të drejtë për asgjë. As për si e ka treguar Berisha sanksionimin e tij, as për pasojat e lëvizjes së tij për marrjen e kreut të PD-së.
Nuk ia vlen ndalemi me hollësi te narrativat e shumta njëpërdorimëshe që ka konsumuar për të mbajtur e shtuar radhët e ndjekësve. Në këtë pikë, le ta pranojmë se ka vepruar me mjeshtëri, si njohës i mirë i botëkuptimit dhe botëndijimit të tyre, i dritë-hijeve të natyrës njerëzore, duke kuar me përparësi pjesën e hijeve.
Ajo që ka mbetur është se sanksionimi i tij nuk është bërë se ka penguar “ndarjen e Kosovës”, siç ka trumbetuar gjatë. Nuk lidhen pazëll-ët. Administrata Biden ishte kategorisht kundër një marrëveshjeve të paqes mes Kosovës dhe Serbisë me shkëmbim territoresh.
Sanksionimi nuk ka asnjë lidhje me aferën “McGonigal”, një dru i shtrembër i FBI-së së Nju Jorkut, që është hetuar e dënuar me burg për shkelje të rënda dhe korrupsion nga vetë drejtësia amerikane. Veç të tjerash edhe për një ryshfet prej dyqind e njëzet e pesë mijë dollarësh, marrë nga një pjesëtar shqiptar i ujdisë së tij me Edi Ramën kundër ish kryetarit të PD-së, Lulzim Basha. Edhe në këtë histori pazëll-ët nuk lidhen, datat nuk përkojnë, një histori pa data të sakta është si një përrallë. Veç po të bëhej Berisha Bashë.
A mund të imagjinohet që një ish punonjës i FBI që është larguar nga detyra dhe vënë në hetim disa kohë përpara sanksionimit të ish kryeministrit shqiptar, të mund të vërë në lëvizje mekanizimin ndërinstitucional të sanksionimeve në shtetin më të fuqishëm të botës? Këtë mund ta mendojnë vetëm ato mendje të ngushta që e dinë SHBA një çerdhe intrigash të nivelit të një seksioni partie në një lagje të Tiranës.
Koha nuk u ka dhënë të drejtë akoma për kryesoren e refrenit, që është heqja e non gratës nga administrata e re. Citimi i saksionimit dhe hetimit të Berishës në Raportin e djeshëm të Departamentit të Shtetit është një lajm i keq për çfarë presin.
Finally, there remains the election victory, Berisha's most attractive and mobilizing promise for his followers. Current polls by two well-known companies such as "Piopoli" in Italy and "Eurobarometer" show a lower percentage for the "Great Albania" coalition than the PD plus LSI in 2021. If this result holds, it is likely that the Re-established opposition will have wasted four years in vain during Edi Rama's darkest mandate in terms of the verified involvement in corruption of a very large number of his party officials. At a time when four years ago the PD and LSI were only 37 thousand votes behind the SP. Great drama, but let's wait for the election verdict.
