British Ambassador to Kosovo: New institutions should be formed as soon as

The United Kingdom Ambassador to Kosovo, Jonathan Hargreaves, has stated that after the completion of the electoral process, Kosovo needs to quickly form new institutions and ensure political stability.

Speaking to KosovaPress while observing the election process in Zubin Potok, Hargreaves said that he is part of the diplomatic observation team coordinated by the European Union, known as "Diplo Watch", which is monitoring the elections throughout the territory of Kosovo.

He praised the electoral process and the work of the staff at the polling stations.

"Our job is to make sure we have a clear picture across Kosovo of what is happening. The people at the polling stations have been very helpful and welcoming. I want to congratulate them and everyone who is making these elections run smoothly," said Hargreaves.

Asked if he expects these to be the last elections for the next four years, the British ambassador said that this is an expectation shared by many citizens in Kosovo.

"I have the impression that many people in this country hope that these will be the last elections for this year. If it is necessary to go to elections again, then this will happen. But it would be very good if after these elections the political parties could reach an agreement, not only on the assembly and the government, but also on the election of the president," he declared.

According to Hargreaves, it is in Kosovo's interest that new institutions be established as soon as possible.

"This is entirely up to the political parties to resolve among themselves. I think Kosovo needs an assembly, a government and a president as soon as possible, and it is up to the parties to determine the order and outcome of this process," the British ambassador said.
