Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani has stated that she was convinced that she would secure the votes to be elected president if Prime Minister Albin Kurti proposed her as a candidate.
She said she had contacted opposition and non-majority community MPs, including LDK, but Kurti and the LVV Parliamentary Group did not support her candidacy.
Osmani also commented on the decision of the Constitutional Court of Kosovo to suspend its decree dissolving the Kosovo Assembly, emphasizing that the decree was a constitutional obligation and that lawyers had been consulted before issuing it.
She added that Kurti had praised her as "the best president of the 21st century" and that she had not placed personal interests above those of Kosovo.
