Report: 1 in 5 people in the world feel the strong impact of climate change

The effects of human-caused climate change, according to a recently published report, are being felt by one in five people worldwide, Anadolu reports.
The report published by 'Climate Central', an independent scientific organization, found that at least 1.8 billion people or 22 percent of the global population faced temperatures significantly affected by climate change every day from December 2024 to February 2025.
Over the past three months, human-caused climate change, mainly from the burning of coal, oil and methane gas, has caused widespread extreme heat across most regions.
During this period, almost 394 million people faced 30 days or more of “dangerous heat” intensified by climate change, with 74 percent of them residing in Africa.
"Dangerous heat" days are defined as days with temperatures exceeding 90 percent of the local average from 1991 to 2020, which increases the risk of heat-related health problems.
According to the research, the highest global exposure occurred on February 28 when three billion people or 38 percent of the population experienced such temperatures.
