Police discover fireworks warehouse where protesters were buying, 32-year-old arrested

Tirana police have discovered a residence where smuggled pyrotechnics were kept, to be sold to masked citizens, perpetrators of violent acts during the rallies of recent days.

After the operation, the owner of the apartment was arrested and 47 packages of fireworks were found, which were seized as material evidence.

"As a result of the controls and operational work, aimed at identifying and detaining citizens who supply participants in recent rallies with illegal items, with the aim of committing violent acts against Police officers, as well as against public and private facilities, specialists from the Economic and Financial Crimes Investigation Section finalized the operation codenamed "Fireworks 2". During the operation, citizen DB, 32 years old, was arrested in flagrante delicto. During the search of his apartment, on "Zela" street, 47 packages of fireworks were found ," the police said.

According to the Blues, verifications showed that the 32-year-old was neither equipped with a license to sell them nor with the accompanying purchase documentation.

"Meanwhile, the investigation suspects that this citizen sold pyrotechnics to masked citizens participating in Saturday's rally, for use in violent acts. The investigation continues to document the circumstances of the case, as well as to identify and bring to criminal responsibility other citizens who may have been involved in it ," the police said.

The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office for further action.
