Lost! Good luck!
Historic turnout in Serbia's parliamentary elections, people wearing masks in Belgrade, a member of a local election commission who ate two ballots, some horse neighing and a kebab message from Hungary: notes on the day and night when Aleksandar Vučuć lost the election. With good feet…
1 .
The parliamentary elections in Serbia have ended. Polls were open from 07:00 to 20:00. Aleksandar Vučić lost the elections. And 90 minutes after the polls closed, he admitted defeat. This is good news for Serbia and the region.
2 .
The turnout in the election appears to be historic. In all likelihood, it is over 70 percent. Without the diaspora. The turnout in the 2000 presidential election, which marked the beginning of the overthrow of dictator Slobodan Milosevic, was 71 percent.
3 .
A large part of the Serbian diaspora, which lives in functional states, has supported the Student List, which aims to remove former President Aleksandar Vučić from power. For this reason, the regime has attempted to prevent the participation of the diaspora. In Zurich, people have waited in front of the Serbian consulate for over 7 hours to vote. In Canada, the polling station opened at 2 am, because the regime has insisted that elections outside Serbia be held according to Serbian time.
4.
According to the allegations of the Faculty of Agriculture, which is currently under blockade (i.e. a faculty protesting against the regime), the deputy chairman of the election commission at a polling station in Despotovac in central Serbia ate two ballot papers. Other notable events: there were beatings, vote buying and photographing of votes; in 8 percent of polling stations people voted without valid documents, while in 30 percent of polling stations there were problems with ultraviolet lamps. The data comes from the non-governmental organization CRTA.
5 .
At a polling station, people waiting in line mocked Dragan J. Vučićević, one of the regime's biggest propagandists and publisher of the "newspaper" Informer: they booed him to let him know that he was a horse. Of the autocrat Aleksandar Vučić.
6 .
The portal of the magazine “Vreme” reported in the evening that many people dressed in black, most of them wearing masks, were gathering in the so-called Cacilend area, in the center of Belgrade. Previously, Vučić gathered his supporters there, mostly violent ones. There was great fear that the regime could provoke violence. The so-called “Student List”, which challenged Vučić in the elections, called on supporters not to gather in places where there is a presence of police and regime supporters, so as not to fall into Vučić’s trap.

In the spring of 2023, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti indirectly accepted, with the Ohrid Agreement, the association of Serbian municipalities, but insisted that Serbia sign an agreement that implies the tacit acceptance of Kosovo's statehood. Vučić refused, arguing that his hand was hurting and he could not sign. The EU said that the agreement was valid even without signing. A strange reasoning from Brussels. Which did not bring any progress in relations between the two countries.
In September 2023, Vučić made what was probably the last bloody and criminal attempt to divide Kosovo: on September 24, the terrorist gang of Milan Radojčić, the deputy leader of the Serbian List, attacked the Kosovo police in the north of the country. On that occasion, one Kosovo policeman was killed and several others were injured. The Kosovo police eliminated three terrorists, while the majority of them, led by Radojčić and probably after Western pressure on Kosovo, were allowed to leave towards Serbia.
12.
The Student List does not have a very different position from Vučić's when it comes to Kosovo. This list also opposes Kosovo's independence. It remains to be seen whether the new government will arrest and bring to trial Milan Radojčić, who lives freely in Serbia. But first, the new government will have a lot of work to do in Serbia.
Vučić's defeat is the second piece of good news from Eastern Europe this year: in the spring, Viktor Orbán lost power in Hungary. Two autocrats are gone. With good luck…
