Anti-Albanian Dacic's party suffers heavy defeat in elections, no MPs

The Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) of the anti-Albanian, Ivica Dačić, failed to pass the three percent electoral threshold in the early parliamentary elections.

According to initial estimates of the overall results, the party secured only 2.3 percent of the vote, meaning that, for the first time since 1990, it will have no representatives in the Serbian Parliament.

This is the weakest result the SPS has ever achieved in parliamentary elections since the establishment of the multi-party system.

If the 2.3 percent figure is confirmed, this would represent a drop in support of 4.25 percentage points compared to the 2023 elections. Compared to 2022, the drop is even more drastic, reaching 9.14 percentage points.

In the 2023 elections, the SPS received 6.55 percent of the vote and 18 mandates, while a year earlier it had received 11.44 percent, securing 31 seats in parliament.

The Student List emerged victorious in today's snap elections in Serbia. Initial projections show that the "Student List - Students Win" secured 52 percent of the vote or 138 seats. In second place is the "United Serbia" list with 39.3 percent of the vote or 104 seats.
