Agron Duka: I support Arben Malaj as an independent candidate for Vlora

The leader of the PAA, Agron Duka, invited to the show "Off the Record" with Andrea Danglli on A2 CNN, has expressed support for former Minister of Finance, Arben Malaj, who has expressed his desire to run as an independent for mayor of Vlora.
The Duke said that he does not see a more suitable candidate than Malaj for the leadership of the city.
" I have a friend in Mr. Malaj. Local elections are not like parliamentary elections. I am realistic and I don't see anyone better than Arben Malaj. There is no reason why I shouldn't support him ," he said.
On the other hand, Malaj made strong accusations against Rama and Berisha, claiming that there is discussion that mayors should be elected by municipal councils and not directly by citizens.
He stated that the Rama-Berisha duo is following the same approach as in the 2008 constitutional amendments, describing this as a blow to democracy.
"The archives of Albanian democracy were made in 2008 with the constitutional amendments by the Siamese brothers Berisha and Rama. I have information that they are doing the same thing for local democracy and will reach an agreement."
"It is being discussed that mayors should be elected by the municipal council, which is a democratic deficit. In many countries around the world, council members also run zone by zone, not with party lists ," Malaj said.
