Agron Shehaj: We do not support any DP candidate, only joint representatives outside the parties

As the Democratic Party has begun negotiations with opposition parties to find a candidate for the elections for the Municipality of Tirana and 5 other municipalities, the leader of the Opportunity Party, Agron Shehaj, says he has only one condition.
In a press conference from the party offices he leads, Shehaj stated that the Mundësia party will cooperate and sit at the table with the Democratic Party only if a joint candidate is found outside of political parties.
He clearly stated that he will not support any Democratic Party candidate.
We have taken a stand and said that there is only one way to win the elections in Tirana, and the only way is for the entire opposition to have a candidate who comes from outside the political parties. We are convinced that this is the only way to win the elections in the Municipality of Tirana. We have not received a clear answer from the Democratic Party whether or not it is for such an alternative.
Now we are being asked to enter into negotiations. But before we start any kind of negotiations, it is very important that the DP says it is or is not for such a candidate. And it cannot play with two doors by saying both we are and we are not.
We have some very good alternatives that I am convinced can win against the Socialist Party candidate who everyone knows has a file in SPAK because she has abused the money of Albanian citizens. Simply, the DP should make up their minds, we cannot sit in negotiations without knowing what we are negotiating. If they want to know if we will support a DP candidate, it is useless for us to sit in negotiations. The answer is no! If they are ready and have made up their minds to run an opposition representative who will unite the opposition and get votes beyond the votes of the opposition parties, absolutely agree. Not only do we agree, but we are convinced that this is the only possibility. This is a start, let's start with the Municipality of Tirana. Let's show that Edi Rama can do it", said Agron Shehaj.
We recall that the DP has set up a negotiating group of 3 people to discuss with other opposition parties to select a candidate for the Municipality of Tirana.
