Is Balluku sinking even worse? GJKKO gave "OK" to dismantle the cell phones of the former deputy prime minister's people, 80 devices are submitted for expertise

Following the decision of the Special Court that gave the green light to SPAK to examine the mobile phones and computer devices seized in December 2025 and January 2026 as part of the investigations against former Deputy Prime Minister and former Minister of Infrastructure Belinda Balluku, the latter have been submitted for expertise to the laboratory of the Special Prosecution Office. Sources close to this institution confirm that there are 80 devices in total, as they have reasonable suspicions that they may provide additional data against Balluku, who is being investigated for the fixing of tenders worth millions of euros.

In the request sent to the Special Court, prosecutors argue that the inspection of the equipment should be allowed, as they suspect that former ministry officials and the businessmen who were subject to the inspection communicated with each other to fix tenders.

The court, after reviewing the request, allowed the expertise of the equipment and according to the law, the entire process must be completed within 40 days. The lawyers of the suspects, such as Erald Elezi, former administrator of KESH or Gentian Gjyli, former head of the Albanian road authority, as well as a group of businessmen Ilir Shtufi of "Nova Construction", Arbër Abazi of "Alco Impex", the company "2T", "Senka SHPK" have the opportunity to judicially challenge the acts.

Belinda Balluku, meanwhile, awaits the review of the appeal by the High Court, where she opposes the security measure "ban on leaving the country". Meanwhile, it is expected that she will appeal to this court also for the measure that remained in force against her, that of suspension from exercising her functions. The former number two of the government is accused of having predetermined the tenders for the construction of the Llogara tunnel and the Great Ring Road.
