Invited to the show "Off the Record" by Andrea Danglli on A2CNN, Democratic Party MP, Gjin Gjoni, spoke about the majority's decision not to revoke the mandate of former Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku and the Democratic Party's reaction, after the Special Prosecution Office had requested the lifting of Balluku's immunity.
The MP considered the opposition's reaction and behavior as an appropriate action in the face of expectations that it would react as in previous cases, which according to him would legitimize criticism of the blue headquarters.
" Throughout the session, although the possibility of a provocation, even a siege of the institution, was prepared, measures were taken to ensure that the session passed without discussion and went directly to the vote. The Democratic Party chose a completely different strategy ."
According to the MP, the Socialist Party scored an "own goal" by voting not to lift Balluk's immunity.
" In political terms, I say that the Socialist Party has scored a goal in its own court. It's a very big own goal ."
Regarding the reaction of international institutions, Gjoni assesses that they have not welcomed the decision taken by the majority to protect the former deputy prime minister.
" The first reaction came from the British embassy, but also from the reaction of Germany, which is the main promoter in relation to the European Union and Albania's progress in the integration process ."
