Orjola Pampuri: People with disabilities can no longer be left in oblivion

The MP and candidate of the Euro-Atlantic Coalition for Tirana, Orjola Pampuri, participated in a public hearing organized by IDM Albania, where the issues and challenges faced by people with disabilities in Albania over the years were discussed.
Pampuri emphasized that the lack of effective policies and the failure to implement existing laws has left this category facing major challenges, such as:
Lack of access to education – Many schools are not equipped with the infrastructure and aids necessary for them.
High unemployment – Despite their abilities, people with disabilities are often excluded from the labor market due to prejudice and lack of support.
Inadequate infrastructure – Public spaces and transportation continue to be inaccessible to them.
Limited health and social services – There are not enough programs for their care and rehabilitation.
Lack of representation – Policies and decision-makers often do not truly address their needs.
Pampuri described this situation as unacceptable, underlining that without concrete action, these citizens will continue to face exclusion and difficulties in their daily lives. She considered it an absolute priority to treat them with dignity through inclusive policies and genuine institutional support.
"Persons with disabilities do not need mercy, but opportunities and policies that integrate them into society, not that leave them in oblivion," said Pampuri.
Pampur's post:
