Protests against the Political Caste/ The largest magazine in Europe "Spiegel": Edi Rama towards being overthrown from power

The major German magazine, 'Spiegel' , writes that the protests in Albania are leading Edi Rama's government towards collapse. The magazine emphasizes that this is no longer about the Trump family's portfolio, but the protesters are demanding Edi Rama's resignation.
"According to the Politico portal, on Saturday alone, around 100,000 to 200,000 people protested in Tirana. 'Albania is not for sale,' they chanted. It was the largest protest to date.
Sazani is located within a marine national park and is home to unique flora and fauna. More than 200 species live in the lagoon and it is an important resting area for migratory birds, especially flamingos. These birds have become the symbol of the protests; the land of the eagle is being transformed into the land of the flamingos.
The last time so many people took to the streets of Tirana was in the early 1990s. Yugoslavia was breaking up then. But now it’s not just about the Trump family resort: protesters are demanding the resignation of Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama,” the magazine writes.
She further emphasizes that the main reason for the protests is massive depopulation.
"At the same time, the country is facing a demographic crisis. Many young people are leaving in search of education, work and better prospects. According to official statistics, since 2015 the population has decreased by about half a million inhabitants. The UN estimates that Albania currently has about 2.75 million inhabitants," the German media emphasizes.
The magazine also calls Rama's bluff when he said he has no project.
"Although Rama constantly emphasizes that the project has not yet been finally approved, it seems that preparatory work has already begun. Entire areas have been cordoned off and it is reported that the fadromas are working without permits and without an environmental impact assessment. Albanian media have also reported that Rama's government is suspected of having officially granted permission for the construction of the project as early as January 2025, without a transparent public procedure."
“On the streets, money is the main topic. The Albanian economy remains weak and the country has one of the lowest GDP per capita levels in Europe. Albanians are unlikely to be the customers of these luxury resorts. On the contrary, local residents are being denied access to the beaches. In the video, groups of people are seen breaking through fences and barbed wire. Local residents are angry,” writes Europe’s largest magazine.
In the end, they emphasize that the only question currently is how long Edi Rama will coexist with Albanians.
“Rama has been prime minister since 2013 and aims to lead Albania into the European Union. However, new projects and changes to the law on nature protection could jeopardize this process. The European Commission has also expressed concerns and recently reminded the Albanian government that it must respect EU environmental standards before membership. A European Commission spokesperson told CNN that the Albanian Ministry of Environment has guaranteed that “construction works have been suspended.”
However, Prime Minister Rama continues to support the Trump-linked project. He told CNN that the luxury project will not "pour concrete over flamingos' heads," but aims to show that development and nature can "coexist."
The only question that remains is how long he and his people will be able to coexist."
