Diaspora Summit, Krasniqi: You can't feed the public with a show. Non-governmental, unrepresented voice
Political scientist Afrim Krasniqi, invited to the "Off the Record" studio by Andrea Danglli, on A2CNN, criticized the Diaspora Summit, emphasizing that "there were many drafts, many slogans, many speeches heard dozens of times."
"If you look at it, to some extent, the entire non-governmental voice in Albania was not represented. I'm not talking about the opposition, but about the non-governmental voice. There were many drafts, many slogans, many speeches heard dozens of times that may suit an actor, may suit an athlete, a tourist, but do not suit a statesman. The statesman speaks in bullet points. The commitment at the first summit was the primer and provision of the basis of Albanian education, which has not happened; it was the registration of Albanians in the world, the creation of a registry for Albanians in the world, which has not happened; it was the creation of cultural centers in all Albanian communities in the world, which has not happened; organizing and coordinating with the government of Kosovo to carry out a joint action, which has not happened. The Foreign Minister of Kosovo raised this issue again today and then addressing some issues related to the economic and social aspects, how we can benefit from the expertise of Albanians in the world and how, when we get international experts, we get successful Albanians in the world, which has not happened. So, the meeting should have been held with these kinds of things”, said Krasniqi.
"These are the tasks, where we are, where we have gone and what we will do. This was not discussed, as far as we were able to see from the media. And from this perspective, look at today the main news of all Albanian media is a lady from Italy who criticized today, despite being interrupted several times. Why? Because you cannot always feed the public, opinion and the state only with show. You have to have something concrete. Our leaders must give up internationalism and move on to their own people. Before holding a summit, consultations are held at all levels with experts and to my knowledge it has not happened. Second, consultations are held with the relevant governments and they are part of the working groups and it is agreed where to go, which has not happened. And then you decide to make it a political forum or to make it a forum for the diaspora where the diaspora speaks and we also take notes and listen, which has not happened. I work at one of the research institutes and our building is located 50 meters from the summit. And all international reports in the last five years say that academic freedom in Albania has declined drastically and is the biggest decline in the last two decades, and none of those who were invited there talked about academic freedom, did not talk about scientific research, did not talk about their colleagues who are on the other side of the street, but everyone talked about "how excited we are when you invite us, when you decorate us and when you make us part of official ceremonies", which for me is a symbolic detail, but not important for the overthrow of a state", added Krasniqi.
