Messi without a coach, Mascherano unexpectedly leaves Inter Miami

Javier Mascherano has unexpectedly resigned as Inter Miami coach, just four months after leading Lionel Messi's team to MLS Cup glory. Mascherano confirmed the decision was for personal reasons.

"I would like to announce that, for personal reasons, I have decided to end my tenure as head coach of Inter Miami. First of all, I would like to thank the club for their trust, the entire staff for their collective effort, but especially the players, who made unforgettable moments possible.

"I also thank the fans and the club family, because without them none of this would have been possible. I will always keep the memory of our first trophy close to my heart and, wherever I go, I will continue to wish them good luck," he said. Mascherano led the team for 67 matches.
