For four days now, CNA has been bringing to light the wiretaps from the Durrës Detention Center of Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj.
One detail that is evident from this file is the harsh and threatening language with which Erion Veliaj speaks to Ajola Xoxa and Arbër Veliaj about the Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja. Veliaj calls Manja a stinker, a dirty villager and says that he will strangle him with his nails.
In previously published wiretaps, we showed that Erion Veliaj asks his wife Ajola Xoxa and his brother Arbër Veliaj to speak to the Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja, so that he is not transferred to another prison and to avoid the checks they perform in his detention rooms.
For this reason, he has asked Ajola Xoxa and Arbër Veliaj to engage all their acquaintances and friends, citizens Mero and GS, to request this from the Minister of Justice.
The wiretaps that we will present below show that Erion Veliaj fears a transfer to a "high security" prison in Tirana that Veliaj calls Alcatraz.
According to the wiretaps on February 21, at 10:46, Veliaj talks to Arbër Veliaj and expresses concern after being told to pack his bags to be transferred to another IEVP , so he asks Arbër to call Mero (Mero Bazen) and Gent Sula so that they can all deal with " Dibrani" and tell him "enough, you've gone too far," referring to the Minister of Justice Ulsi Manja .
In the conversation with Ajola Xoxa, Erion Veliaj also asks her to call Genti Sula and Mero and tell them that he is being insisted on transferring and that we should do the conversation with Genti Sula and Mero as a personal honor since he is playing tricks.
On February 21, at 3:25 PM, Veliaj and his brother Arbër Veliaj revealed that he fears being transferred to a "high security" prison in Tirana that he calls Alcatraz.
The mayor calls this madness and asks him to talk to "the people."
On February 24, in a conversation at 3:33 PM with his wife Ajola Xoxa, Veliaj tells her that there is again news that he may be transferred to Alcatraz prison.
Veliaj says he does not know who is talking to the friends of Justice, as employees and staff at the Durrës Penitentiary Institution are informing them that places are opening up for transfer and that this is a "dirty" thing since they have been deprived of their rights and the transfer would be excessive.
On March 8 at 11:09, Veliaj talks to Arbri about the contract with American lawyers, about which Veliaj asks how it was possible that it was made public . Arbri states that the contract has passed through many institutions and is transparent.
Regarding Joshua Roberts' visit to the Durrës Prison. Arbri tells him that the visit will take place on Monday.
We recall that the visit took place on Monday, March 10, 2025, one day before Veliaj's marathon hearing at the Appeals Court of Kosovo, which lasted three days.
On March 9 at 11:58, Veliaj talks to Arbri and after the latter's advice not to mention names, he speaks English, saying that he only has one day and if they don't win, he will be in the penitentiary for a very long time.
Veliaj demands that lawyers prepare well before the Americans with arguments.
