The return of Çim Fusha/ An avalanche of billions for the businessman after Balluk's departure

The Lezha Water and Sewerage Company announced the winner of the merger of the companies Shansi Invest and Fusha in the 10 million euro tender for the construction of the Mamurras water supply system.

These two companies offered a prize of 9.6 million euros, beating out the other two competitors, 2T and Everest.

This was the second large public contract that the Fusha company has managed to secure this year. A few months ago, it was announced the winner of the 10 million euro tender for the greening of the Tirana-Durrës highway by the Albanian Road Authority.

Both the Water Supply and Sewerage Company and the Albanian Road Authority are two institutions that have been under the umbrella of Belinda Balluku's rule. This was a territory that, until recently, seemed like a forbidden apple for businessman Shkëlqim Fusha.

It is no secret to anyone that Shkëlqim Fusha has historically been one of the financial pillars and most open partners of Erion Veliaj's clan in the Municipality of Tirana. To the extent that the businessman is part of Veliaj's file and was even accused by SPAK of having illegal financial relations with the mayor.

This narrow positioning also turned Shkëlqim Fusha into a target for the rival clan led by Belinda Balluku. For years, the contracts won by Fusha in institutions under the Ministry of Infrastructure were fewer than the fingers of a hand.

But the political and judicial developments that led to Balluk's removal from the government seem to have changed the playing field, paving the way for Çim Fusha's return.

The avalanche of billions over the past few months proves that Fusha has made a strong comeback as a dominant infrastructure player in the country.

His resurgence after the fall of Balluk once again confirms the golden rule of the Albanian transition: the fate and success of big business do not depend on the free market and competition, but on the movement of the political clan that controls the state's purse./Kapital
