Accused of rape, Dani Alves declared innocent

Former footballer Dani Alves has been found not guilty of rape.

The Appeals Section of the High Court of Justice of Catalonia has accepted by a full majority the appeal of footballer Dani Alves, who was sentenced by Section 21 of the Provincial Court of Barcelona to 4 and a half years in prison for the case in question in a Barcelona discotheque on December 31, 2022.

The judges in the case have encountered several inconsistencies, which has led to the decision to release Dani Alves. It is worth noting that the Court also pointed out contradictions between the victim's testimony and the material evidence in the case, such as DNA reports and fingerprint examination.

Alves had to pay a bail of 1 million euros (850 thousand) and agreed to surrender his passport, as he is banned from leaving Spain.
