Briken Calja shines with fourth place in the world, controversial reaction: It

Joy and disappointment, that's how Briken Calje's appearance at the World Weightlifting Championships being held in Manama, Bahrain can be summed up. The 34-year-old opened Albania's World Cup competitions today, as he competed in Battery A for the 73 kg weight category.

Although the weight of the years is felt on his shoulders, Calja showed that he remains a ball, making very good performances in the breakaway style. Although the competition did not start in the best way for him, after he failed in the first two attempts with 152 kg, the weightlifter from Štrmena excelled in the third attempt, successfully completing 153 kg. A great result, which ranked the Albanian weightlifter in fourth place in the world, getting very close to the medal zone.

But unlike the breakaway style, the push reserved disappointment for the red and black champion, who failed in three trials at 183 kg, not being classified in the doubles. However, a fourth place remains a result that deserves applause, especially since it comes from a champion who for years has carried the red and black flag with world and European medals.

EXPRESSION – After the race, Briken Calja reacted with a post on social networks, venting to people who underestimate his result in Bahrain: "It's sad to see that the effort and sweat of an athlete are so easily minimized by some people.

4th place in the world in breakaway is the result of hard work, endless sacrifices and passion for the sport. Let's not forget that the world counts 8 billion people, and being among the best is never a failure. For those who call this a failure, I invite you to walk my path even for a day. Malicious criticisms do not stop me, they only give me strength to go higher", writes Calja. Albania's World Championships will continue tomorrow at 10:30 with Erkand Qerimaj and Kristi Ramadani, who will compete in Battery B of 81 kg.
