Burim Kukeli appointed coach of Zurich's U-21 team

A familiar face in Albanian and Swiss football returns to an important role. Former Albanian national team midfielder Burim Kukeli has been appointed coach of FC Zurich's under-21 team, taking charge of the youth team at the club where he spent a significant part of his playing career.
The news has been made official by the Swiss club itself, which through an announcement on its official website expressed its confidence in the 41-year-old:
"Burim Kukeli will be the new coach of our U21 team. He has extensive experience as a footballer and has built a solid path as a coach in recent years. FCZ wishes him a welcome and success in this new challenge."
Kukeli has a special history with Zurich, where he played from 2012 to 2017, accumulating 100 official matches. After ending his playing career, he began his journey on the technical bench as an assistant coach at clubs such as SC Kriens, FC Wil, FC Sion and Grasshopper, where for a short period in 2023 he also led the U-21 team as head coach.
With 27 appearances for the red and black team, Kukeli remains a respected name in Albanian football and seems determined to prove himself in the coaching field as well. His return to Zurich represents a significant step in his coaching career.
