He was hesitant, Ancelotti reveals: I replaced Endrik with Rudiger, I didn't want penalties

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has not hidden his delight at qualifying for the quarter-finals of the Champions League, after a dramatic match with Atletico decided by the penalty shootout.
As happened last season with Manchester City, last night, luck from the penalty spot was with Real.
"It was a difficult match, because they scored on us in the first minute.
That goal changed the dynamics of the match. They defended quite well and tried to hit us on the counterattack.
"It's true that we didn't create many clear scoring chances, with the exception of Mbappe's penalty... But this shows how difficult it is to catch Atletico by surprise, or to risk them often during a match," says the Real Madrid coach.
Regarding penalties, the Italian emphasizes: "To be honest, I didn't want us to go to penalties.
That's why we pushed it into extra time by a goal.
But it was destined to go to penalties.
"At first I was wondering who the fifth striker would be. We had chosen Endrik, but then I noticed that Rudiger was calmer and cooler."
