Mediterranean Games/ Kurti reveals plans for 2030: New judo gym to host combat

Kosovo's Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, has emphasized the importance of investments in sports infrastructure, directly linking the development of judo to preparations for the 2030 Mediterranean Games to be held in Kosovo.

In a statement on the occasion of the work on expanding the National Judo Center in Peja, Kurti pointed out that the current judo center has been the basis of Kosovo's Olympic successes, while the new investment aims to take this sport to an even higher level, creating modern conditions and international standards for athletes.

"This center where we are currently located was inaugurated in September 2021. Part of the road to Olympic medals in 'Paris 2024' was paved right here. The rest was done in more difficult conditions, but with work and dedication, this extraordinary judo team has brought Olympic gold medals from Rio and Tokyo.

With the unstoppable commitment of the Judo Federation to raise Kosovo even higher, within the framework of the 'Kosovo Judo State' program, today we are launching this new investment. This project includes: A new judo gym with international standards, a multifunctional facility that includes accommodation, a swimming pool, a fitness room and a restaurant. The project will create the conditions for Kosovo judo to continue its work forward, strengthen its role as a training center in Europe and at the same time contribute to the expansion and development of sports, tourism and the economy in our country. It is here, in the spaces of the new judo gym, that combat sports competitions will also be held within the framework of the 2030 Mediterranean Games", Kurti announced.

In conclusion, the Prime Minister underlined that this project is not only an investment in sports, but also a strategic step for the successful organization of the 2030 Mediterranean Games, positioning Kosovo as an important sports center in the region and beyond.
