The "Muhamet Malo" tournament closes, a gold medal for Albania

Albania has successfully concluded the organization of another important international activity in the sport of wrestling, as the "Muhamet Malo" tournament was held in Tirana from February 26 to March 2. An activity that comes in honor of one of the prominent figures of Albanian wrestling, former champion Muhamet Malo, with the event holding its fifth edition.

It is a large-scale competition, part of the World Wrestling Union calendar, which has brought over 720 athletes to our country. The “Feti Borova” Hall in the Tirana Olympic Park was transformed into an arena of duels for five consecutive days.

In terms of results, in the freestyle, Iran was declared the champion with 135 points, while the podium was completed by the United States of America with 97 points in second place and Japan in third place with 93 points. Albania closed in 12th place, with 31 points.

In the Greco-Roman style, Georgia was declared champion with 141 points. The silver medal went to Turkey with 137 points, while the podium was completed by Kyrgyzstan with 125 points. In the Greco-Roman style, the Red and Black National Team was classified in 17th place with 12 points accumulated.

In terms of women's wrestling, Japan took first place in the team rankings with 158 points, followed by Ukraine with 110 points and the United States of America with 109 points.

Albania's only medal in this tournament was won by Chermen Valiev, who was declared champion in the freestyle for the 74 kg weight category. With the conclusion of the "Muhamet Malo" tournament, Tirana will host another prestigious international competition, as the European Championship for ages up to 23 will be held from March 8 to 14.
