The structure of the Albanian Cup also changes, 10 participating teams are added

This new football season will have many innovations regarding the formats of national football competitions in the country. In addition to the changes in the championship scheme "Abyssnet Superiore" and the First Category, the Cup of Albania will also come with another structure in the 2023-2024 edition according to the decision taken by the Executive Committee of the AFL.

Unlike last season, starting from this edition, 44 teams will participate in this competition, i.e. 10 more than last season, from the championships "Abissnet Superiore", First Category, Second Category and the champion team of the Third Category of the season 2022-2023.

The Cup of Albania 2023-2024 will consist of a pre-elimination phase and an elimination phase. The teams ranked from first to eighth place in Abissnet Superiore for the 2022-2023 season will compete starting from the 1/8 stage (Round III).

In the pre-eliminatory round, the teams ranked in the 7th, 8th, 9th place of the Second Category Group A of the 2022-2023 season as well as the 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th places of the Second Category Group B of the 2022-2023 season and the Champion team of the Third Category season 2022-2023 participate. The matches in this tour will take place with a meeting in the field of the team with the best ranking of the season.

In the first round (1/32) the 2 teams ranked in the 9th and 10th place of Abissnet Superiore in the 2022-2023 Season will participate, as well as the 14 teams participating in the championship of the First Category in the 2022-2023 Season, the 12 teams ranked in the first six places of the Second Category of groups A and B in the 2022-2 Season 023, as well as the four qualified teams from the pre-elimination round.

Only the quarter-final (1/4) and semi-final (1/2) tour matches will be 2-legged.
