Black in Albanian sports, volleyball legend Kreshnik Tartari passes away

Albanian sports woke up this weekend to bitter news. One of the greatest and most respected figures in Albanian volleyball, Kreshnik Tartari, has passed away after a long battle with a serious illness.
The netting legend closed his eyes forever on May 30 in San Marino, leaving behind an extraordinary story of success, dedication and love for the sport. The news was confirmed by his friends, former athletes and collaborators over the years, who have expressed their sorrow for the loss of one of the biggest names in Albanian sports.
Born in Tirana on July 21, 1943, Tartari dedicated his life to volleyball. Initially, he stood out as a player for Dinamo and the national team, but it was his career as a coach that made him immortal in the history of Albanian sports.
Under his leadership, the Dinamo women's team entered its golden era, winning 11 consecutive championship titles and becoming one of the strongest teams in Europe. Dinamo reached the top four of the continent several times, a success that continues to remain among the greatest achievements of Albanian sports.
Kreshnik Tartari was considered not only a winning coach, but also a generational shaper, who helped raise many of Albania's most successful volleyball players. For his extraordinary contribution, he was honored with the title of "Grand Master".
With his departure, Albanian sport loses a rare icon, while the name of Kreshnik Tartar will forever remain part of the golden history of volleyball and Dinamo.
