350 thousand euros for air traffic management at Kukës Airport! Albcontroll

A tender conducted by the state-owned company Albcontrol for the Kukes Airport foresees an expenditure of around 350 thousand euros at a time when the airport has not had flights for around two years.

According to data, at the end of last year, a procedure worth 33.2 million lek was announced to secure the infrastructure that will enable the provision of flight information services.

However, the lack of air activity at Kukes Airport has raised questions about the effectiveness of this investment and the concrete benefit to the public.

Sources indicate that the object of the contract is related to the rental of a mobile air traffic control structure, equipped with communication means such as radio and telephone lines, which is usually used for air traffic management.

The tender procedure was conducted with the participation of a single economic operator, which was declared the winner with a bid of approximately 31.6 million lek.

Meanwhile, experts and critics of this procedure raise concerns about the high cost of the contract, emphasizing that similar structures can be obtained at a lower cost on the market.

The authorities have not yet provided a detailed response on the reasons for this expenditure, while the issue is expected to continue to be discussed in public opinion.
