Underground city? Italian researchers discover 'megastructure' hidden under the Pyramids of Giza

A new claim by Italian researchers has sparked debate in the scientific and public communities, suggesting that the Pyramids of Giza may be just the tip of the iceberg of a much larger complex hidden underground.
According to a report published by the New York Post, engineer Filippo Biondi stated that the data collected suggests the presence of a massive underground structure, which may include a second "Sphinx" buried under the sand.
In Egypt, the Great Sphinx of Giza is a symbol of strength and protection, often placed near the pyramids as a guardian of royal necropolises.
It is a mythological creature with the body of a lion and the head of a human.
During an interview on the Matt Beall Limitless podcast, Biondi said:
"There's something very big. The radar signals point to unusual and potentially man-made shapes beneath the surface," he said.
Claim for an underground "city"?
According to researchers, analyses using radar technology may have identified a vast underground complex — a kind of hidden "citadel" (a large fortification or fortress within a city that serves as a place of protection for the population and leaders in case of attack or danger) — that lies beneath the Giza area in Egypt.
One of the strongest hypotheses is the existence of a second Sphinx, which may have been covered by sand for thousands of years.
Skepticism from the scientific community
However, other experts remain skeptical of these claims.
So far, there is no independently verified evidence to confirm the existence of such a giant structure or a second Sphinx.
Archaeologists point out that the Giza area has been intensively studied for decades and any major discovery would require solid evidence, excavations, and extensive scientific verification.
What's next?
If the claims prove to be correct, this could be one of the greatest archaeological discoveries in history, changing the way ancient Egyptian civilization is understood.
For now, everything remains in the phase of hypotheses and preliminary analyses, while the scientific community awaits concrete evidence to support this intriguing theory.
