An Albanian has been arrested by police in Italy, accused of drug trafficking.
The 21-year-old Albanian was caught in Roncade, while selling a dose of cocaine to an Italian buyer for a payment of 60 euros. During the search, the police discovered a metal container with a magnet, hidden under the car that the young man was driving. Inside it were 70 more doses of cocaine, separated and ready for sale.
The checks continued and 880 euros in cash that the Albanian was carrying with him were seized, while another 5,000 euros were found hidden under the mattress in his room. The bundle of money was in 10, 20 and 50 euro denominations.
According to Italian authorities, the Albanian was part of a network that operated with meetings organized by phone, quick stops and drug deliveries directly from the car window, to avoid checks and to be constantly on the move. Investigators suspect that the network used encrypted telephone communications to organize sales and was constantly on the move to avoid police surveillance. After the arrest, the 21-year-old Albanian has been made available to Italian judicial authorities and is expected to appear before the court in a live hearing.
