As a result, the passenger in Xhaxhaj's vehicle, 18-year-old Vikena Greku, lost her life. According to the Police, the young man was drunk at the time he was driving. After the accident, Xhaxhaj was given an alcohol test, which resulted in a blood alcohol level of 1.50 mg/l.
According to preliminary data, the vehicle was moving at a very high speed, suspected to be up to 300 kilometers per hour, which caused the driver to lose control of the steering wheel.
It is initially suspected that he lost control of the road at the Dajlan Bridge, crossing into the port lane. As a result, he hit the traffic divider and "flew" over the bridge's curb, ending up underneath.
The collision was fatal for the 18-year-old passenger, Vikena Greku, who died at the scene. The driver of the vehicle, Arbër Xhaxhaj, 26, a resident of Fier, was injured, as well as two pedestrians, citizens TT, 33, and AM, 35, who were near the accident site. The injured were urgently transported to the hospital and are under the care of doctors.
