A 34-year-old Albanian was arrested by Italian police on charges of possession with intent to sell narcotics, after two kilograms of drugs were seized.

The arrest took place at around 9pm on Thursday, during territorial patrols ordered by the Prefect and Chief of Police. The officers were carrying out a checkpoint at the Siena Nord intersection in the municipality of Monteriggioni, when they stopped a car considered suspicious.

During the stop, the driver appeared particularly agitated and nervous, prompting officers to investigate further. After removing him from the vehicle, officers found two cellophane packages containing a brown substance, which was later determined to be hashish.

The search of the vehicle was then expanded and revealed additional drugs hidden in the front bumper. A total of approximately two kilograms of cannabis, divided into 20 blocks and apparently intended for distribution, were seized.

The Albanian was arrested and placed in solitary confinement. He was then transferred to the Siena prison, where he remains at the disposal of the judicial authorities pending a confirmation hearing.
