GJKKO rejects Belinda Balluku's request to lift suspension from duty

The Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime (GJKKO) has rejected the request of former Deputy Prime Minister and former Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, for the immediate revocation of the personal security measure that suspends her from exercising public functions.
According to an official media release, Balluku filed a request with the court on March 13, 2026 for the “immediate revocation of the personal security measure of a prohibitive nature ‘suspension of the exercise of a public duty or service’”. This measure was imposed on her by decision no. 118, dated November 19, 2025, by the same court.

In her request, Balluku also requested the termination or cancellation of this security measure, which includes suspension from high state functions as Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Albania and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy.
After reviewing the case, the panel of judges headed by Judge Erjon Çela decided to dismiss the request. The decision was made based on Articles 112, 260/1, 262/2 and 267 of the Code of Criminal Procedure and bears the number 229, dated March 13, 2026.
