"We will close the Strait of Hormuz"/ Trump on Iran's statements: We will not allow them to blackmail us

US President Donald Trump has reacted to the recent tensions over the Strait of Hormuz, stating that Iran cannot use this strategic sea route as a tool of blackmail.

"Very good talks are taking place with Iran. Iranian leaders want to close Hormuz. We will not allow them to blackmail us on Hormuz. The United States is taking a tough stance," Trump said.

He further added that, despite the tensions, diplomatic contacts continue, describing Iran as a party that is behaving "a little too cutely, as it has for 47 years."

The Strait of Hormuz is considered one of the most important sea routes in the world, as a large part of the global oil supply passes through it. Any potential blockage of it significantly increases international tensions and endangers the stability of energy markets.
