MP arrested on suspicion of abusing minors

Labour MP Dan Norris has been arrested on suspicion of child rape and sexual offences. The British MP was immediately suspended from the Labour Party after learning of his arrest.

Police stressed that information about the criminal offenses was reported in December 2024. Most of the offenses are alleged to have occurred in the 2000s but an alleged rape offense in the 2020s is also being investigated.

Dan Norris, 65, won the new seat of North East Somerset and Hanham in last year's general election. Norris first entered parliament when Tony Blair was in power in 1997 and served as MP for Wansdyke until 2010. Norris is also the mayor of the West of England from 2021, but will stand down ahead of local elections in May.
